Our classes meet at the L.O. Bud Irby Lake Worth Senior Center (7005 Charbonneau St, Lake Worth, TX 76135) every Tuesday morning.
Each semester runs about 15 weeks and culminates in a concert for our family and friends!
There is no fee, but students will need to provide their own instrument, music stand, pencil, and accessories. Go to the Materials Page to find out exactly what you need for your instrument. If you need help finding these things, contact us, or check out the Resources Page for music stores and websites we like.
GGBP follows a traditional concert band setup with the following instruments:
Not sure what these instruments look or sound like? Watch this
US Army Field Band Instrument Demo or click on each instrument name to jump directly to that part of the demo.
We do not have a place for stringed instruments (like guitar or violin) or piano in our regular class, but we love collaborating with other instrumental groups on our concerts. If you’re part of another ensemble and would like to collaborate, please contact us!
That's ok, I'll teach you! Students of all skills and abilities are welcome!
Contact me and we can find you a new one to learn!
Those new to their instrument will start off in Beginning Band. If you would like to be in Concert Band, you'll need to have at least one year of experience on your instrument, and you'll need to complete a Playing Test.
Students in Concert Band may also join Beginning Band, either on their current instrument or on a new one.
You need to be 11 or older, but for those with end-of-the-year birthdays, you may join in the August of the year that you turn 11.
Senior Citizens must be members of Lake Worth Senior Center, which has no residency requirements. Please contact LWSC at 817-237-3281 for membership information.
